7 Things Wildly Successful People Do Before 7:30 a.m V Working Mum Reality

Yesterday I read an article published on Forbes called 7 Things Wildly Successful People Do Before 7:30 a.m, it was a good read, and had some interesting points. I consider myself a Wildly Successful person, I'm a wife, mother of three young children and a Digital Marketing Consultant and would love my morning routine to include "Practicing Mindfulness". But that ain't gonna happen!

According to the article, "Successful people come from all walks of life, yet they all have one thing in common: where others see impenetrable barriers, they see challenges to embrace and obstacles to overcome.
Absolutely, totally agree with this comment, although challenges and obstacles come in different shapes and sizes. Mine, navigating lego bricks on the floor, convincing a 2 1/2 year to wear clothes and making sure my 5 year old has completed his homework all before I start work.

The Article

According to the article, here are 7 Things Wildly Successful People do before 7.30am:
  1. drink lemon water
  2. exercise
  3. disconnect
  4. eat a healthy breakfast
  5. practice mindfulness
  6. set goals for the day
  7. they say no

My Morning Routine

Out of the seven, I do two of these things, Eat a Healthy breakfast and Say No (usually to my children) and I officially don't get to do any exercise, but maybe I should consider picking up a baby and a pre-schooler as weight training. I would love to drink lemon water and practice mindfulness all before 7.30am, but in reality, as a working mum here are "Seven things I do before 7.30am":

Shower, dress and make the bed
(with at least one or all of the children 'helping')

Feed, change and dress the Baby

Closely supervise Mr 5 and Mr 2 at Breakfast

Watch Planes (again!)

Convince a Mr 2 to wear appropriate clothing
and brush his hair before going to Nursery

Change the baby (again)

Give my husband a kiss while dashing out of
the door for the morning school run

We are all Different

I'm still a widely successful person, even if my morning routine has absolutely no resemblance to the list in the article (I'm sure I'm not alone with my morning routine). I sit down at my desk at 9.05am and take five minutes to collect my thoughts before starting my working day.

We all come in all different shapes and sizes, so do our morning routines and what each of us consider to be 'wildly successful' can vary.  I'm not worried if I'm not able to practice mindfulness and drink Lemon Water every morning, because success is what you make it!
